Why Rehearsal Exists
Shipping estimates at order time use item weight (what the seller declared). But you pay based on packed weight or volumetric weight — both unknown until actually boxed. Rehearsal bridges this gap.
What Rehearsal Estimates
- Packed weight (item + box + padding).
- Volumetric weight (from box dimensions ÷ 5000 or 6000).
- Billed weight (the larger of the two).
- Final shipping cost (billed weight × line rate).
This is within ~5% of the final bill, typically.
When Rehearsal Is Worth It
- Orders over 3kg. Shipping is a big share of cost, rehearsal precision matters.
- Bulky items. Puffer jackets, shoes with boxes, foam-packed figures — volumetric weight may dominate.
- Close-to-weight-band-limit parcels. If you're near 1kg or 2kg, a small bump could push you into the next tier.
- Line comparison. Rehearsal shows cost under each line, helping you pick.
What Rehearsal Cannot Fully Guarantee
- Carrier re-weighing. The final carrier sometimes re-weighs and tweaks the bill.
- Route surprises. Sensitive items detected post-packing can force a line change.
- Last-minute rate changes. Fuel / seasonal surcharges can adjust by a few percent.
Rehearsal is tight, not exact. Budget a 5–10% buffer above the rehearsed number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does rehearsal cost anything?
Rehearsal costs about 20 RMB per parcel. Some optional services inside rehearsal (like special packing tests) may add small fees.
How long does rehearsal take?
Typically 1–2 days from request to result.
Can I do rehearsal multiple times for the same parcel?
Yes, but each rehearsal uses workers' time. Do one careful rehearsal, not multiple attempts.
If rehearsal says $40 and final is $45, why?
Carrier re-weighing, line-specific surcharges, or small packing adjustments. 5–10% drift is normal.
